I started off by soaking the almonds for about 24 hours.
The result was a light, frothy milk with a distinct almondy taste. It's a bit too light for me though, so next time, I shall reduce the water quantity.
The best part about this recipe is that you don't have to throw away the almond meal ( the pulp that remains after straining). You can dry it and use it as a topping for fruit, yoghurt or ice cream! Yay for zero wastage :)
The next recipe of the day is strawberry sauce; I don't really need a reason to try out anything that has strawberries in it!!! But here are some its benefits: they are chock full of antioxidants, boost immunity, are full of fiber and are totally yummilicious. All I had to do was put the ingredients - strawberries, water, oj and a cinnamon stick - in a pot and bring it to a boil.
This process took about half an hour and turned out a delish homemade strawberry sauce. Note that it does not require any additional sweeteners! I think I'm gonna try out the same recipes with peaches :) Here's the finished product:
Happy eating!!!
